What is 16 Days of Activism?

16 Days of Activism is an international time between 25th November and the 10th December to galvanise action to end violence against women and girls around the world.

The 16 Days begin on International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, which is also White Ribbon Day, and ends on Human Rights Day.

The 16 Days were chosen as they also incorporate the International Human Rights Defenders Day (29 November), World Aids Day (1 December) and the anniversary of the Montreal École Polytechnique Massacre (6 December).

What is UK SAYS NO MORE doing?

During 16 Days, we’re focusing on 16 different issues around domestic violence and sexual assault, including mental health, homelessness, technology, the LGBTQ+ community, children and domestic violence, sexual assault on campus, supporting male victims, and how to help.

We’re showcasing the work of our partner organisations, raising awareness of support services available for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

With your help we can create a buzz around these issues – ending the silence and stigma which sadly do often surrounds them.

What can I do to join in?

There are a number of different ways you can join us during 16 Days:

  • You can follow the campaign on social media over the 16 Days, using your platforms to share & retweet content
