BUFF Partnership

With our 16 Days 16 Films competition now well underway, we’re ecstatic to announce our latest partners in the arts, British Urban Film Festival and On Point Comms!

We believe that the media – including films, TV and music – hold a real opportunity to transform the national dialect around domestic abuse and sexual violence. The conversation can be shaped by what we see on screen, what we read and what we listen to. We’re expanding our work with our partners in the arts over coming months, with the aim of ensuring these outlets are aware of their responsibility in tackling these issues.

In their own words…

Now in it’s 14th year, the festival has established itself as the leading film festival in Europe for diverse programming and exhibition of BAME (Black, Asian, and minority ethnic) talent, female filmmakers and unique stories, championing them through multi-media: Cinema, VOD, Theatre, Radio and TV having worked with major broadcasters and producing its on awards ceremony and production arm.

BUFF is happy to support UK SAYS NO MORE as the festival believes in the empowerment of women through the arts. BUFF promoted for the first time a female festival director in 2016 and 2017. BUFF honoured a female director (Amma Asante MBE at the BUFF Awards 2018) and BUFF 2018 festival was ran by 100% female staff for the first time ever. BUFF believes that women should be supported in the workplace and feel safe, valued and respected in their capacity to lead and be led.

On Point Comms (Formerly JoClarePR) is a female-led PR company driven by the unheard stories of emerging and independent entrepreneurs and filmmakers. Launched in 2015, the company has secured sponsorship for clients, produced marketing campaigns to propel brands into mainstream media and worked with entrepreneurs on rebranding and launching products and services.

OP Comms is delighted to support UK SAYS NO MORE. Women experience multiple challenges in the workplace and domestic or sexual exploitation and violence is something that has plagued the media and film industry for too long. By supporting UK SAYS NO MORE, more people will see that their voices will be listened to and that there are avenues of support available through their extensive list of partners.
